Supporting the National Photography Art Exhibition, the Meitu App launches a relevant event

On December 2nd, the 29th National Photography Art Exhibition and the inaugural Xiamen Photography Art Week took place in Xiamen. Simultaneously, the Meitu App launched its associated activities.


To coincide with the exhibition, the Meitu App initiated a photography competition involving all its users. The competition featured three themes: Timeless Moments, Unbounded Imagination, and Beauty of China. More than 23,000 photos were submitted by 7,000 participants.


After expert review, a total of 180 works were selected and will be exhibited at the Meitu Art Center from December 2, 2023 to March 31, 2024.


Wu Xinhong has conveyed that through the endorsement of these photography activities, Meitu strives to enrich and refine its image ecosystem. This endeavor is not only intended to help establish Xiamen as a photography hub and a city renowned for its dance of light and shadow, but also to showcase the beauty of China in its entirety, narrating a diverse tapestry of stories.

At the opening ceremony, Pan Chaoyang, Vice Chairman of the China Photographers Association, Vice Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Literary Federation, and Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Photographers Association, Wang Jingchun, Vice President of the China News Photographers Association, Liang Xiangfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Hunan Provincial Photographers Association, Wu Xinhong, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Meitu Inc., Lin Hongmei, Vice President of Xiamen Radio and Television Group and Chairman of Wenguang Media Group, and Wang Yuan, member of the Party Group of Xiamen Literary Federation and Vice Chairman, presented the honorary certificates to the creators.


Fu Yongjun, a member of the competition judging panel and the curatorial committee of the China Photographers Association, noted this competition demonstrated a significant rise in younger participants, more dynamic thinking, and improved tools and technical capabilities when compared to traditional photography competitions.


While Liang Xiangfeng, another judge from the competition, and also the vice president of the Hunan Province Photographer Association, observed that the photos from this competition are of high quality, rich in themes, and employ innovative shooting methods. Notably, a considerable number of participants use AI effects, stickers, and graffiti, signaling a novel exploration and guiding influence on new technologies and artistic trends. This innovative image expression expands the boundaries of visual representation.


Established in 1957, the National Photographic Art Exhibition is the oldest, largest, and most influential national photography exhibition hosted by the China Photographers Association.


Starting from the 29th session, the National Photographic Art Exhibition will be held in Xiamen for 5 consecutive sessions over 10 years, sponsored by the Meitu App.
