According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the number of AI enterprises in China had surpassed 4,500 by April 2025.

On May 11, Forbes released its 2025 list of the top 50 Chinese AI companies. Meitu was selected alongside other leading firms and applications such as DeepSeek, Unitree Robotics, Tencent, and Kuaishou.

The listing publisher evaluated candidates on six dimensions: tech innovation, market performance, real-world impact, team & culture, funding status, and long-term strategy. The resulting cohort mixes scale players (annual revenue > RMB 10 billion) with high-growth disruptors (50 %+ YoY). Vertical-focused AI and home-grown hard-tech breakthroughs were singled out as especially important.

The selected companies represent a relatively mature market presence, featuring both large-scale enterprises with revenues exceeding tens of billions and innovative players achieving annual growth rates over 50%.  Furthermore, in terms of industry characteristics, the value of AI in vertical sectors and breakthroughs in domestic core technologies are becoming increasingly prominent.

While recognized benchmark companies continue to highlight the concentration of talent in traditional tech hubs like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou, the list also acknowledges the rising influence of innovators from other cities. For instance, Meitu stands out as the only selected company based in Xiamen.

As a representative AI company in the imaging and design field, Meitu has accelerated its AI application rollout in 2025. Leveraging the technological reserves of its Meitu Imaging & Vision Lab (MT Lab) and its vast user base, Meitu has actively executed growth strategies, achieving frequent breakthroughs in areas such as e-commerce design, talking videos, and commercial photography.
