On October 12th, 2023, Wu Xinhong, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Meitu, spoke about Meitu's Collaboration with China Mobile to Provide Cloud Image Services for Hundreds of Millions of Users at the China Mobile Product Innovation Development Forum of China Mobile Global Partners Conference.


Wu Xinhong announced that Meitu's collaboration with China Mobile will allow the company to concentrate on the essential requirements of both users and partners. This partnership aims to comprehensively advance various aspects including product offers, operation efficiency, distribution channels, and ecosystem development. The goal is to enhance image cloud services provided to the vast user base.


Meitu has honed its imaging tech expertise and gained vast experience applying AIGC in diverse situations. As of June 2023, Meitu boasts a monthly active user base of 247 million, who collectively create approximately 7.283 billion photos and videos each month.

Wu Xinhong conveyed his aspiration to pioneer collaborative efforts with China Mobile in areas such as 5G, 6G, computational capabilities, and AI. While Meitu can offer China Mobile its proprietary AI vision model, enhanced productivity capabilities, subscription services, and advanced imaging services as technological and content solutions. Meitu is eager to collaborate with China Mobile on products like cloud phones, cloud disks, 5G calls, and the computing power network, fostering widespread adoption of information applications and innovation in IT, offering new opportunities for digital-virtual integration.

Wu Xinhong emphasized three strategic directions in Meitu's cloud service development identified through its product evolution. First, Meitu aims to streamline the integration of shooting, editing, and recreating images by combining local and cloud processing. This approach will facilitate easy storage and access to users' digital image assets. Second, the company aims for its cloud services to seamlessly integrate into everyday life and productivity, catering to various smart devices. Third, Meitu aims to create a digital identity for users by combining human intellect and AI creativity, ensuring easy access to AI-generated content.


Both parties currently prioritize user value, cooperating on the customized 'Meitu Album' feature. It enables automatic backup within Meitu products for convenient cloud storage of editing, photography, and design projects.

Going forward, Meitu will continue exploring business innovation through cross-industry cooperation with China Mobile. Wu Xinhong suggested that as computational power advances and 5G becomes more widespread, there will be substantial growth in the mobile cloud market. Meitu plans to integrate its image service capabilities into the mobile cloud ecosystem to establish an extensive image tool service system encompassing AI-enhanced pictures, videos, and design.
