Arbor Day: Planting Hopes and Dreams with Meitu

March is a month of rebirth and a great time for meaningful action focused on protecting the environment and ushering in the Spring season.

Chinese Arbor Day, on March 12th, has just passed.

For Chinese people, trees are not only good for beautiful scenery, but also for cherishing memories.

Many literary works are associated with trees and flowers.

When we really love nature, nature will love us back, and provide us with more beauty and life.

As an Internet company with "beauty" as one of its goals,

Meitu recently held a tree planting event.

March 16th, Meitu’s Xiamen staff joined hands for a tree planting event at the Xiamen Bantou ForestPark under the organization of the Meitu Public Welfare Department, the Xiamen Meitu Party Committee, and the Meitu Administration.

According to the forest park staff, many companies have organized their staff to join in tree planting events at the park, starting in the early spring. Meitu’s event was very meaningful, as Meitu joined in the post-typhoon "Meranti" ecological restoration reforestation effort, and was part of the planned reforestation area of 3,614 mu in Xiamen’s Bantu Forest Park.

In this event, all saplings were provided by Forest Park free of charge. The saplings planted during the event were michelia macclurei trees.

Although the sapling is slender, it will grow up to be very large and very beautiful, with many ecological functions.

This tree not only has a beautiful shape, but also thick leaves and branches and with a heavy floral scent. They also are an excellent flowering tree for gardens and can be used in forests for fire protection. They are an ideal ecological afforestation species that can maintain soil and water and help regulate the climate.

There were more sand and gravel in the park, and a few sections of the road were not easy to walk. We helped each other and walked for about 30 minutes to finally reach the designated tree planting site.

There were some holes for trees that were roughly delineated in the park, but further digging of the soil pits was also required. We were guided by the park staff in choosing some suitable places for the saplings.

Some of our staff planted the saplings with their children, and the event was a great opportunity for the parents to help their children truly feel the arrival of spring and appreciate the meaning of manual labor.

Xiamen is located next to the sea, and many of our staff noted that they had rarely been to such a densely wooded mountain forest in Xiamen. Most of our staff also noted that they were participating in such a tree-planting event for the first time, and that the event was more interesting and memorable than they had imagined.
