Meitu hosts Become Beautiful for Love public welfare sharing session to promote female beauty and health
2017-12-28On December 28, Meitu teamed up with TRENDS HEALTH and the well-known wig brand Rebecca to host a public welfare sharing session named Become Beautiful for Love in Beijing’s Sanlitun. Meitu announced in the session its cooperation with TRENDS HEALTH to take part in the Pink Ribbon activity, which calls for attention to female beauty and health. Meitu also introduced its new function, MyStylist, an AI supported virtual hair styling service, which can be found in Meitu’s well-known product BeautyCam.

Meitu joins in Pink Ribbon activity to draw attention to female health
In October 2003, TRENDS HEALTH joined hands with Estee Lauder Group to introduce the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in China. After 14 years of consistent effort, the Pink Ribbon Campaign has become one of the most influential health public welfare campaigns in China. Sun Yajun, Executive Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of TRENDS HEALTH, said that it is in women's nature to love beauty. Meitu has a large number of female users, and this cooperation with Meitu will hopefully influence more women to pay attention to their health. TRENDS HEALTH and Meitu share a common understanding of the cause of beauty, as TRENDS HEALTH has been committed to helping women realize their desire for beauty and health, while Meitu provides beauty services for millions of women as a technology company.
At the sharing session, Meitu donated to the Pink Ribbon's Yongyuan Foundation, which is focused on the health of rural female teachers. Chen Hanze, Vice President of Marketing at Meitu, said she hopes that, with Meitu's brand and product power, the Pink Ribbon project can influence more users and help more people pay attention to women's health, letting females not only become beautiful in appearance but also enjoy a good life in a healthy way. At the event, Rebecca, a wig brand, donated a variety of wigs to female patients who have lost their beautiful hair due to cancer treatment, hoping to help them in their battle to overcome the disease and regain their beauty.
This is the second cooperation between Meitu and Pink Ribbon. Last year, Meitu’s app MakeupPlus released a Pink Ribbon makeup look, calling for the public’s attention to breast cancer prevention and a cure for breast cancer, promoting female health in its own way.

AI technologies bringing new possibilities to business cooperation
At the session, Xu Dajun, Meitu’s Vice President of Advertising Sales, demonstrated Meitu and Rebecca’s cooperative product, the MyStylist feature in BeautyCam, as an interesting result of a combination of AI and commerce.
According to the technical staff at MT Lab, Meitu’s R&D hub, MyStylist is an intelligent feature developed to meet users’ beauty demands. After users take a selfie using the feature, the system will analyze the user’s face shape in the photo and match them with the most suitable hairstyle. Meitu’s industry-leading face shape analysis, posture analysis, facial feature segmentation, face fusion, makeup technology and other AI technologies ensure the final results are accurate and satisfying.

There are over 10 popular hairstyles available on MyStylist, including Double Bun, Antlers, Braids, Peach Blossom and more, 7 of which are inspired by the design of Rebecca’s new wigs. Participants in the activity can try on different hairstyles with BeautyCam first and then an in-person hairstylist can be invited to help them try on the same type of wig from Rebecca, saving repeated try-on time and proving the realistic effect of AI virtual trial services. The BeautyCam team said that there will be more hairstyle effects, including male hairstyles, in the future.

Through this, Meitu has confirmed its intelligent products in the future can be closely related to users’ desires to become more beautiful in real life. AI technologies are able to both improve products and bring more business cooperation possibilities to beauty companies. In the future, MyStylist is also expected to enter the offline market, cooperating with offline hair stores and styling salons to help users try on different hairstyles and choose the most suitable hairstyle for them before getting their haircut.
